Tabulating results Coming together to start counting Voting Voting Voting Our university union election was conducted today. (31 October 2023) Gokul S. Nair won the chairmanship, while Jyothika J. was elected the vice Chairperson. The positions of Secretary,  University Union Chancellor,  Arts Club Secretary, Sports Club Secretary, and Magazine Editor were also up for election. Tini, Parvathy, Anaina, Indrajith, and Gouri were elected respectively. The event was bittersweet for me since I was not able to secure the Magazine Editor spot for which I ran.

We had to first check the free classes and see if there were any we could cover with our specialization, if not, we had to cover the free periods with something else. In short, I was busy covering for various classes from 5 to 8 all throughout the day 6 out of 7 hours. Most of my classmates had a similar workload and we were physically and mentally exhausted by the final bell. Handling the students in this hectic environment while making some judgement calls was an absolutely invaluably experience I was grateful to

All of us were really familiar with the school and mostly familiar with the faculty and students. I sat in on a couple classes by my classmates, handled one on my own and shared a free period with my classmates in the last hour. I gave students proper notes today and also got to see how a senior teacher gives notes to UP students in a very edifying display of a somewhat mundane part of school teaching. It was heartwarming to see that students really liked my class and asked me to come in again.

All of us were given some hours to handle, and in the morning, I sat in with my classmates from physical science for two hours. They were both doing excellent as teaching trainees. And in the fourth period, we got to handle a Physical Education class for children. And in the evening, I sat in a Malayalam class by my classmate and taught the final period myself. I covered magnetic field lines and showed them practical examples in class. The students were really receptive and the experience was quite valuable.

We had familiarized ourselves with the school and introduced ourselves to the study body, today some of us began handling basic teaching by helping our seniors. There was a Blood Donation Camp conducted by NSS today, and I was barred from donating because I was taking psychiatric medications. In general, it looked to draw in a lot of people, and a couple of my classmates donated. A lot of our classmates handled free PT classes today, and I had the fortune of teaching in the last hour, I taught what a compass is and how the Earth acts as a magnet. I enjoyed my first official session as a teaching trainee.
